I can understand on one hand , as it's stated above, David's family among other things, doesn't want his funeral to turn into a circus , like Jackson's , Elvi's , and recently Houston's and their wishes must be respected.
On the other hand, personally I believe David would had wanted his buddies present.
Here's an incredible talent, combined with those of Nesmith, Dolenz & Tork.
He was the Paul McCartney of the Monkees, he was the voice of the Monkees and he was also the only one of the 4 who wasn't american, he was english.
In a career where so many have died so young and stupidly (overdosing, combinning drugs and alcohol ) , The whole group was the exception to this myth , specially Jones.
My heart goes out to his family and to the surviving Monkees, for I know they rival The Beatles ( by the way, the were friends with them, they were invited and were in the Beatle's Sgt. Pepper's rap up party ) even about the way they felt for each other.
In a way, the story if The Monkees is a lot more incredible than that of The Beatles, considering they didn't know each other till they audition to form the group. Perhaps one of the few consolations of his untimely passing is, that he died a natural death, never had any type of scandals , may God received him in his kingdome, and may he rest in peace.
